Rum
Rum is such an evocative spirit. It transforms, transcends and instantly transports the drinker to the sun-washed shores of the West Indies; white sands, palm trees and blue seas. It always has a sense of joviality, in part thanks to its Caribbean origins, and also because of the unabashed decadence surrounding a libation made from sugar.
DON PAPA RUM 10 YEARS
Plenty of rich, aromatic dark chocolate notes, dotted with wafts of smoke, oak and juicy raisins.
DON PAPA RUM 7 YEARS
Nose: Fruity notes up front, with sweet tangerines and apricots. This is followed by vanilla ice-cream, drizzled with runny toffee sauce. Palate: Bags-full of vanilla and cinnamon. Hints of raisin, sultana and marmalade.
FLOR DE CANA 7 YEARS GRAN RESERVA
Butterscotch, brown sugar, almond butter, dried figs and red apple.
FLOR DE CANA CENTENARIO 12 YEARS
Rich and sweet with enough oak-spice warmly pushing through the flavor profile
FLOR DE CANA CENTENARIO 18 YEARS
Full bodied and quite thick with dry oak, some cocoa, spices, toffee nut and allspice.
FLOR DE CANA CENTENARIO 25 YEARS
Very creamy. Much fruitier than the nose suggests, with papaya, kiwi and ripe pear. Oak-y cigar box notes appear later on.
HAVANA CLUB ANEJO 3
The nose is crisp and fresh with notes of marzipan, citrus, allspice, ground ginger, a little lime and gentle oak. The palate is clean and rounded with notes of citrus, vanilla and oak, a little spice and lemon and a delicate nutty note.
BACARDI CARTA BLANCA
The palate is of medium-body with hints of tropical fruit and a note of dark brown sugar and winter spice. The finish is good with smooth vanilla spice notes.
DIPLOMATICO RESERVA EXCLUSIVA
Walnuts, sweet caramel, baking spices, brown sugar, cinnamon, buttery and fruity.
BACARDI 8 YEAR OLD
The nose is fresh and perfumed with notes of oak and peels, a little syrup with a fennel note. The palate is sweet and rich with tropical fruits, peels and winter spice. The finish is gentle and luscious.
BACARDI LIMITADA RESERVA
Rich and complex. Smooth notes of butterscotch and dried fruit melt away to a long, dry finish.
DOS MADERAS 5+5 YEARS OLD
Vanilla, molasses, rich sticky dates and prunes, orange peel, allspice and clove.
PYRAT XO RESERVE
On the nose it is very citrussy. So much orange peel. Icing sugar, waves of fruit. Perhaps a little cough sweet note too. On the palate it is sweet, viscous and more orange. With a marmalade hint.
SAILOR JERRY SPICED RUM
Vanilla spice, butter, oak, cinnamon, nutmeg and ground ginger. Drying and sweet on the palate with notes of winter spice and black pepper, toffee.
